Welcome to 2021 everyone 😊 Hopefully 2021 will be kinder to us all.
So far, we have seen plenty of event dates lock in and registrations open, so positive signs ahead. Races like Gold Coast Marathon, Jetty 2 Jetty, Great South Run and International Women’s Day to name a few.
Looking ahead to 2021 Watts Athletics has made some changes and look forward to sharing with you all throughout the year.
What has changed?
Watts Athletics has joined QRun / Queensland Athletics which allows us to offer a simple membership registration system and access to the statewide insurance scheme covering our members while training or racing at QA affiliated events. We are looking forward to competing at QA Track & Field meets, cross country and road events, giving some other clubs a run for their money.
Club Membership is $50 for Adults and $40 for U18 Athletes. Throughout the year we will be working with local business to provide product discounts, freebies, and product testing, so keep an eye out for those days. Memberships will go live by the end of January and will be available through our website.
We will be using Final Surge for all online programs throughout 2021. This is a free app you can access on the computer or download on your smart phones via the app stores and sign up for Free. Final Surge has proven to be a key tool for coaching. The program allows me to track your runs, progression and provide feedback via the comments section. This will also keep you honest with your training and on track to achieving your goals.
Also, we are venturing into Nutrition plans. Hermieny has joined our team as our official Nutritionist and is looking to take on new clients to help achieve maximum performance.
What has not changed?
I will still be coaching all you amazing athletes to success! I have dedicated my full attention to Watts Athletics and investing into making this club a fun, community friendly and successful team, whether that be getting back into running or taking on the marathon, I will be with you all the way. We have our website up and running and will have our event calendar up soon enough so you all can pick and mark down your events for 2021.
Events
Now Christmas pudding has been eaten, and New Year’s drinks have been flushed out of our systems it is time to plan 2021. As mentioned above plenty of events have been announced and pending COVID should all be a go (crossing fingers & toes)
